Da Vinci Robot at Royal Bournemouth Hospital

In 2013, Mr Turner led the acquisition of a da Vinci robot by Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The Bournemouth da Vinci robot is the only surgical robot in Dorset. All radical prostatectomies in Bournemouth are now performed using the da Vinci robot and this technology is available to both NHS and private patients.

Prostate Cancer and Robotic Surgery

Mr Turner is an expert in the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer. He was trained in laparoscopic (keyhole) radical prostatectomy by Professor Jens-Uwe Stolzenberg in Leipzig. Professor Stolzenburg is widely regarded as one of the leading laparoscopic urological surgeons in the world. Mr Turner performed or participated in more than 200 laparoscopic radical prostatectomies.

Mr Turner was trained in robotic radical prostatectomy by Professor Stolzenburg, and by Professor Alex Haese from the Martini Clinic in Hamburg. The Martini Clinic is the busiest radical prostatectomy centre in the world, performing more than 2000 radical prostatectomies a year.
