INFORMATION FOR UROLOGY CLINIC PATIENTS

ARRANGING AN APPOINTMENT WITH MR TURNER

For most new patients it is necessary to be referred by your GP. There may be occasions when this is not absolutely necessary or where an appointment with Mr Turner can be arranged before your GP has had an opportunity to make a referral. Mr Turner's secretary would be more than happy to advise.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST OUTPATIENT APPOINTMENT

At your first outpatient appointment, Mr Turner will take into account all information provided by your referring General Practitioner and the results of any tests or investigations performed so far. He will then ask you in detail about your current symptoms and also will ask questions about your past medical history. A list of your current medication (prescribed and over the counter) and also details of any allergies would be most valuable.

In most cases Mr Turner will then perform a physical examination before summarising his findings and recommendations. Potential options will be discussed and the benefits and side effects of any medication and procedures will be discussed in detail.
